Halston Sage does not hold back on spilling secrets about her Paper Towns castmates. “We used to sing ‘Blank Space’ on set all the time,” she says of working on the road-trip adventure, the newest film adaptation of a beloved John Green novel. “John and Nat [Wolff] would kill me for saying that!” she adds with a laugh.

The bubbly 22-year-old is still recovering from the regular Taylor Swift sing-alongs and “pure fun” that came with playing Cara Delevingne’s on-screen BFF, Lacey Pemberton. Halston’s role in last year’s Neighbors (with then-rumored boyfriend Zac Efron) let her represent crazy college life; Paper Towns (shot in Charlotte, North Carolina), on the other hand, allowed her to relive high school. “The cast was together 24/7,” says the Los Angeles native. “I went to an all-girls school when I was younger, so being able to hang out with kids my age, live in an apartment building with them, and go to work with these people every day was really cool.”

From water-park antics to late-night milk shakes and sundaes at the diner, the experiences this crew shared formed a connection that’s sure to last—especially Halston’s relationship with a certain top model. “I know Cara and I are going to be lifelong friends,” she says. “Making a movie is like an accelerated version of growing up with someone. You spend so many hours a day with each other, and you’re putting your heart into this same effort.”

The best part of her performance? Bringing John Green’s words to life. “I would do a million more movies with John. He’s the coolest person I’ve ever met,” she says. We’re sure the feeling is mutual.

The former Nickelodeon star, who plays Lacey Pemberton in the film adaption of John Green’s beloved novel, talks about growing up.

AGE: 22.
PROVENANCE: Los Angeles.

CLASS ACT: The blonde beauty, whose breakout role was in Nickelodeon’s 2012 How to Rock series, started acting professionally in high school. “I would be in science class studying lines for my audition later that day, which isn’t great, but it was way more fun.”

RIDING HIGH: The actress is a champion equestrian. “It was the best thing I ever did for myself growing up. It taught me responsibility and gave me an athlete’s mentality—competitive but also appreciative of where hard work can get you. I carried that over into acting.”

BACK TO SCHOOL: Sage plays Lacey Pemberton in next month’s Paper Towns—the film adaptation of John Green’s beloved coming-of-age novel, which stars Cara Delevingne. “I went to an all-girls school, and I always felt like I missed out on a traditional high-school life. So when I was filming, it made up for that.”

HOME, SWEET HOME: “I am excited when I get a movie and I get to move somewhere for a certain amount of time. But I am a Cali girl. My family is here. The sun is here. It’s kind of hard to leave.”

Halston is being featured in Taylor Swift’s “Women Of Tomorrow” article in her issue where she took over Glamour UK to present the world with the ultimate #TAYLORPOWERISSUE. Taylor Swift is one of the most influential power women in the whole world and she’s picked 10 “Women of Tomorrow” who excite & inspire her! Halston Sage is along side some other amazing women like Gigi Hadid, Zendaya, Joey King, her Goosebumps co-star Odeya Rush, Amandla Stenberg, Suki Waterhouse, Martha Hunt, Georgia Nott of Broods and Hailee Steinfeld. Taylor wrote a few word about each women, here’s what she had to say about Halston:

“I met Halston over FaceTime when she was shooting ‘Paper Towns’ with my friend Cara Delevingne. She’s an all-American beauty with a smile that could put you into a trance. She reminds me of Rachel McAdams’ younger sister. The girl all the girls want to be friends with. And all the guys want to marry.”

There’s a dense history of teen stars scaling the depths of Nickelodeon evening programming: plunging into a sexed-up campaign or photo shoot; participating in some heavy-handed scandal; and then escaping out the other side, hopefully relatively unscathed—or at the very least an adult actor ready for a harried Lars von Trier close-up.

In comparison, 21-year-old Halston Sage’s journey so far has been, well, relatively easy. Her breakout television role—as Grace King on How To Rock—came with the character designation of “Lieutenant Perf,” the “Perf” hilariously short for perfect. And yet you don’t hate her for it. You can’t. Her energy’s fresh and hopeful, her smile—a mile wide and blinding—rolls open easily, equal parts seraphic and discerning. You get the feeling those qualities are the currency paying for all of these new experiences. That the actor who starred opposite Zac Efron in Nicholas Stoller’s 2014 film Neighbors; made an appearances in Sofia Coppola’s 2013 The Bling Ring; and currently has three films—Goosebumps, Paper Towns, and Scouts vs. Zombies—in post-production, will find wind on her back, sun on her face, prospects held tight in her palm.

On getting her start as an actor:
Acting was something that I always wanted to do and it was a passion of mine.
I think growing up in L.A. my parents were very cautious. They wanted to know: Was it something that I really loved, or was it something that I was just surrounded by. I started auditioning and then when I was 18, the same day college letters came out, I found out my pilot got picked up and it kind of made the decision for me. I’ve been going and having fun ever since.

On living away from home for the first time:
It was fun because it felt like college. I got lucky; I knew what I wanted to do with my life. I have my job (acting) and then I always joke around with people when they ask about school and I’m at the age where all my friends are graduating. I take online college courses when I’m not working so I always feel like I had that aspect of college—and then I have Neighbors. It’s just a little bit of a different college experience.

On filming Paper Towns:
We filmed in Charlotte, North Carolina. That was amazing because all the cast was staying in the same apartment building. We’d walk to breakfast on the weekends and spend the rest of the day together and end up at a diner around the corner from where we were staying at midnight. It was so much fun. Charlotte’s a great city.

On shooting in Chicago, North Carolina, and Atlanta all in one year:
I was shooting Scouts vs. Zombies and Goosebumps at the same time so I was between Atlanta and Los Angeles this summer and then I was in Charlotte the past three months. It was crazy, starting the year in Chicago [then going] to L.A., Atlanta, and North Carolina—at this time last year I would’ve never guessed that.

On being back home in Los Angeles:
It’s been nice because everything gets really quiet [in L.A.] around the holidays so I got to spend time with my family. That’s really important to me. I just got back to L.A. and it’s funny because something about Paper Towns: I’m so grateful for the friendships I walked away from it with. Nat [Wolff] just flew into Los Angeles. Cara [Delevingne] is here. I was with most of the cast on Monday and Tuesday. We’re even having this little reunion. We’ve only been away from each other for two weeks, but we all miss each other so much. It’s nice to have a little break but I’m ready to work again. I love working.

On her character Lacey Pemberton in Paper Towns:
[She’s a] quirky girl who’s going to Dartmouth, not just the standard popular girl, which is what I really liked about the character and I think that’s part of what’s so great about John Green’s projects. He writes these dynamic characters. In the book there’s a line in the play from a poem that says, “I contain multitudes.” And it’s true no person is one-dimensional and is one thing or one way. There’s little parts of people that make you fall in love with them and some are kind of weird and some we might not like but that’s what makes them real and not just a stereotype.

On what’s next:
I’d love to go to Italy—whether it’s work or vacation. I have to go. I’ve never been and it’s my dream spot. In terms of work I’m just looking for a great character. Whether that comes from TV or film, who knows? What I’m looking for is another great role and hopefully she lives in Italy, but if she lives in L.A.—that’s cool. If she lives in Atlanta—that’s great. If she lives in Canada—amazing.

Jake Schreier is directing Fox 2000’s coming-of-age movie, which stars Nat Wolff and Cara Delevinge

Austin Abrams, Halston Sage and newcomer Justice Smith are joining Fox 2000’s adaptation of John Green’s bestselling novel ”Paper Towns,” TheWrap has learned.

Nat Wolff and model Cara Delevinge will star in the coming-of-age drama, which is being directed by Jake Schreier.

Wolff will play the lead role of Quentin, whose world changes when the lovely Margo (Delevinge) moves in right next door when he’s nine years old. They become best friends but grow apart over the years only to reconnect in the last few weeks of high school. When Margo mysteriously disappears, Quentin and his best friends go on a journey to find her, and in the course of their road trip, discover a lot about life.

Abrams, Sage and Smith will respectively play Ben, Lacey and Radar — Quentin’s friends who journey with him to New York City to search for Margo.

Abrams closed his deal Thursday evening, while Sage and Smith’s deals are expected to close soon.

Screenwriters Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber are producing with “Fault In Our Stars” author Green and Temple Hill’s Marty Bowen, Wyck Godfrey and Isaac Klausner.

Sage is an up-and-coming young actress who appeared in “Neighbors” and was a series regular on NBC’s “Crisis.” She next stars in Sony’s “Goosebumps” and Paramount’s “Scouts vs Zombies.” She’s represented by CAA, ROAR and attorney Michael Schenkman.

Abrams co-starred on MTV’s “The InBetweeners” and appeared in both “The Kings of Summer” and “Gangster Squad.” He has booked three indie movies in the last month, having recently wrapped “Medicine Men” with James Le Gros and “The Greens Are Gone” with Kiernan Shipka, Catherine Keener and Anton Yelchin. Abrams will also play the leads in Werner Herzog’s “Vernon God Little” and Adam Christian Clark’s “Aaron Baby Superfecta.” He’s represented by APA, Industry Entertainment and attorney Derek Kroeger.
