Light that enters a prism refracts to become a rainbow, its beams bent and manipulated into something that stuns. There are people who are not used to that kind of light, who see brightness as something foreign and strange. There are others who would rather the light not enter their life at all, afraid of what it might reveal. Then, there are those who invite the light in – who, despite themselves and whatever fears they may harbor, are bursting at the seams with it – and the inevitable glow that follows testifies to the strength of their character.

“Risk taking is a part of life,” actress Halston Sage says, her words as incandescent as she is. “If you never take risks, you will never know what you are capable of doing. I am a big believer in making choices in life that are true to your values and your heart. If you know that the risk you are taking is for a cause that is true to what you believe in, then even if you fail, you will not have any regrets – you can only learn from the experience.”

Halston Sage (Crisis) and Penny Johnson Jerald (Castle) have landed series-regular roles in Fox’s untitled live-action hourlong comedic drama created by and starring Seth MacFarlane. Jon Favreau is set to direct the first episode of the series, which is set in space 300 years in the future and follows the adventures of the Orville, a not-so-top-of-the-line exploratory ship in Earth’s interstellar fleet.

Character details for Sage and Johnson Jerald’s roles were not provided, as has been the case with other castmembers including Adrianne Palicki, Scott Grimes, Peter Macon and J Lee. Sage co-starred on the NBC series Crisis, and her recent film credits include Goosebumps, Paper Towns and Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse. Repped by CAA and manager Jason Weinberg, she next appears in the features You Get Me and Before I Fall. Johnson Jerald was a regular on Castle for four seasons, played Sherry Palmer on 24 and was the titular character’s personal assistant Beverly on The Larry Sanders Show, among many other TV credits. She is repped by Mitchell K. Stubbs & Associates.

Awesomeness Films is ramping up its next project, and reteaming with Bella Thorne and Halston Sage to do it. The pair have signed on to star in You Get Me, a thriller being directed by The Jinx‘s Brent Bonacorso. Ben Epstein wrote the script. Production is set to begin next month primarily on location in Los Angeles.

The pic centers on Tyler, fresh out of an argument with his perfect girlfriend Ali (Sage), who lands in the arms of sexy out-of-towner Grace (Thorne). The morning after, he finds that not only does Ali agree to take him back, but Grace is a new student at their school and is dead set on her new man.

“We are thrilled to be working with Bella and Halston again. They are both incredibly talented actors and we can’t wait to bring this fresh thriller to audiences worldwide,” said Matt Kaplan, President of Awesomeness Films, the film arm of the DreamWorks Animation-Hearst multiplatform unit AwesomenessTV.

Thorne starred in Awesomeness Films’ Shovel Bodies which has its world premiere at SXSW next week. She’s also co-starring in The Weinstein Company’s Amityville: The Awakening which will bow next January. She is represented by WME and LBI Entertainment.

Sage, whose credits include the upcoming Neighbors 2, Fox’s Paper Towns with Cara Delevinge and Nat Wolff, is in Awesomeness Films’ Before I Fall, the pic based on Lauren Oliver’s bestselling novel that stars Zoey Deutch. Sage is repped by CAA and ROAR.

Bonacorso is repped by UTA and Underground, and Epstein by CAA and Think Tank Management.

In the horror comedy Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse, out October 30, Halston Sage plays Kendall, a popular girl with a heart of gold who is described as having “clearly won the genetic lottery.” It’s a glib assessment that Sage, 22, has had to fight since she came to attention in 2014’s hit comedy Neighbors, in no small part due to an onscreen snog with costar Rose Byrne. The scene earned Sage an MTV Movie Award nomination for Best Kiss. “I’m proud of that!” Sage, who grew up in Los Angeles, says with a disarmingly nerdy chortle. “Getting to kiss Rose was a privilege. I still have a crush on her.”
Sage has been working to add substance to her bombshell roles—a struggle she has in common with Lacey Pemberton, the character she plays in the recent young-adult drama Paper Towns. Lacey, the not-so-clueless BFF of Cara Delevingne’s Margo, can’t seem to shed her ditzy reputation, despite the fact that she’s bound for the Ivy League. Sage’s surprisingly layered performance will no doubt lead to meatier roles for the actress, but for now she is donning the scream-queen crown, starring alongside Jack Black in an upcoming film adaptation of the YA Goosebumps horror books. “I’m ready to walk the streets like in Pretty Woman or get locked up in the loony bin Girl, Interrupted-style,” she insists. “I just have to be patient.”

Awesomeness Films has announced that Halston Sage, Logan Miller, and Kian Lawley will be joining Zoey Deutch as the stars of the upcoming movie, Before I Fall.

Diego Boneta (Scream Queens) and Elena Kampouris (Men, Women & Children) round out the cast, with Ry Russo-Young (Nobody Walks) directing.

Adapted from Lauren Oliver’s novel, Before I Fall stars Deutch (Vampire Academy) as a high school senior named Samantha Kingston with a seemingly perfect life, complete with a gorgeous boyfriend and inseparable best friends, until she’s stuck reliving one day of her life — Feb. 12 — over and over again.

Sage and Miller can be seen next in The Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse, and Lawley, who is best known as a YouTube star, made his film debut in this summer’s horror flick The Chosen.

Awesomeness Films recently released Smosh: The Movie, and their upcoming projects include Snervous, a documentary about Tyler Oakley, and Dance Camp, a feature starring YouTube and Vine stars Meg DeAngelis and Jake Paul.

Production on Before I Fall will begin in November.
